Recommendation: RE-ELECT NDP MP PAUL DEWAR

The race in this riding is between the NDP and the Liberals and our general position is to support the incumbent in these races.

However, if you count yourself a supporter of the Liberal party's stand on shifting taxes from income to the emissions that cause global warming, you can safely vote on principle here.

If you do vote for Mr Dewar to support his re-election, don't give him a free ride! Climate voters across the country should call the NDP on their populist stand on lower gas prices. Jack Layton and the NDP know that cheaper gasoline won't lead to lower emissions.

We're not the only ones who are questioning the NDP's recent statements on this topic. Read what former NDP environment critic Lynn McDonald had to say in the Toronto Star in July.

Sources used in this recommendation:

Please keep in mind our recommendations are based on a review of previous outcomes, election prediction sites and the commentary of pundits and constituents. Every riding is unique, and recommendations based on regional polling trends do not necessarily capture that. You are best situated to make the call on who to vote for. The most important thing you can do is talk to your friends and neighbours, assess the local race yourself, and make an informed decision as to who has the best chance of keeping the Conservative out of office. Work together!

Make the candidate earn your vote!

We encourage you to support the recommended candidate, but they have to realise you are doing this because you want action on climate change. Please keep the pressure on over the next two weeks!
