Sault Ste. Marie

Recommendation: RE-ELECT NDP MP Tony Martin

The competition here is between the NDP and the Liberals and our general position is to support the incumbent in these races.

However, if you count yourself a supporter of the Liberal party's policy on shifting taxes from income to the emissions that cause global warming, you can safely vote on principle here.

If you support Tony Martin's re-election bid, make him earn his vote! Ask him how his party squares its call for lower gas prices with its commitment to fighting global warming. Jack Layton and the NDP know that cheaper gasoline won't lead to lower emissions.

For another perspective on this issue, read what former NDP environment critic Lynn McDonald had to say in the Toronto Star in July.

Sources used in this recommendation:

Please keep in mind our recommendations are based on a review of previous outcomes, election prediction sites and the commentary of pundits and constituents. Every riding is unique, and recommendations based on regional polling trends do not necessarily capture that. You are best situated to make the call on who to vote for. The most important thing you can do is talk to your friends and neighbours, assess the local race yourself, and make an informed decision as to who has the best chance of keeping the Conservative out of office. Work together!
