We need a new way of electing governments!

If we don't deal with global warming now, everything we hold dear -- family, health, lifestyle, the environment and the economy -- are threatened.

We need a government prepared to deal with global warming and pollution from fossil fuels. A government ready to play a leadership role in making the world a better place. A government we can be proud of.

Unfortunately, though a majority of Canadians who voted supported parties which pledge to reduce emissions, we have one again elected a minority government that is unprepared to act.

Canadians who want change need to throw their support behind electoral reform, so that we can avoid this problem in the future. If we had proportional reprsentation, Canadians could safely vote for the party that best reflects their values. The result in this election would have been a government prepared to act on climate change. We need a new way of electing Governments. What Happens Next?

The public has given the Conservatives an increased number of seats, albeit still a minority. Clearly Mr. Harper has to be given the opportunity to make this arrangement work and lead government.

If he doesn't succeed, the opposition parties should be given the chance to form a government in his place. We hope all the parties will come together and cooperate on the development of effective climate policy.
